Massage Therapy What to Expect Technique

Before a Massage:
| Your therapist will ask you to fill out an information sheet on your health. This is to protect your health and your therapist They will ask pertinent questions regarding your health then guide you to the Massage Therapy Room | |
| You will be instructed to disrobe and lie on the table and cover yourself with the cover sheet provided while the therapist waits in the adjoining room (Massage Therapy is normally done with the client wearing nothing. Your "privacy" is protected by a cover sheet the entire time. It is Florida Law that all clients are draped during a massage.) However if need be you can leave on under shorts. Bikini style or similar are best. | |
| Your therapist will instruct you in breathing techniques and "The One Rule of Massage" |
During a Massage:
| During a Massage your therapist will keep your privacy protected with the cover sheet and only undrape the area necessary to work on. | |
| Each arm is undraped, worked with and then placed on your tummy or by your side | |
| Each Leg is undraped, worked with then re-draped. Your therapist has been taught techniques to make sure your modesty is protected | |
| When your therapist has you turn on your tummy wait for them to instruct you on when and how so they can protect you. They will have you turn and slide up into the face rest. Then reset the bolster under your feet. At this point they will place your legs in a different position to take the strain off the lower back. | |
| The therapist will then move the sheet down to your lower back so they can work with the muscles in your back. When they are done they will recover you and move on to the buttocks, legs and feet. | |
| Massage Therapy is a Medical Procedure. Therefore your privacy is protected by a Client/Therapist Confidentiality. | |
| Breathing is really the only thing you need to do during a Massage Therapy session. Just breath and let go! |
After a Massage|:
| The therapist will fold your sheet in two over you so that it does not encumber your legs. They will help you sit up, advising a few deep breaths, and help you onto the floor. Not leaving until you are firmly on your feet. Don't Rush enjoy the relaxation! | |
| They will leave the room for you to get dressed | |
| Drink lots of Water. Massage Therapy improves circulation of Blood and Lymph and removal of toxins from tense muscles. Water just helps the body to work better and eliminate everything easier. (NOTE: Sometimes if there have been a great many toxins released into the system one can feel something akin to nausea. The more water you drink the quicker this feeling should go away. | |
| After a massage you are often very relaxed! If you have to drive after wards keep in mind that your reaction time is similar to someone who has had a couple glasses of wine. Not quite impaired but REAL relaxed! Please be careful. |
If at any time you feel uncomfortable about the depth of work, the placement of the work, or anything at all. Please tell the therapist.
